After spending a good amount of time toying with space, perspective and infinity (pool) we made our way out of the Valnerina and down to Spoleto for a day of city strolling. It's an old quiet city with lots of charm. When the sun started getting high we took our packed lunch and crossed the Ponte delle due Torri to the hills on the far side of the ravine and noshed on some assorted provisions. After buying some local goods (grappa, truffles, olive oil, figs, etc.) we headed back to Geppa to enjoy the waning daylight by the pool.
During the craziness of wedding planning, when I allowed myself a glimpse of the honeymoon, this is what I envisioned. We spent the morning jogging, running, walking, exploring the mountain road that ventured up from our little village; eventually taking us to Grotti. As you can plainly read from the sign, there are NO trumpets in Grotti. None. So, don't inquire. In the afternoon the sun warmed us to the point where we actually thought a swim in the frigid pool sounded like a good idea. Brrr. A laid back relaxing day at its finest.
